DENVER — Two Coloradans have created a smartphone app that aims to make parking easier while providing an income source for some homeowners.

Reese Barracks was inspired to create Drivewayz when he and his friends were looking for parking ahead of a football game at the University of Colorado Boulder.

“We were circling the block, round and around, couldn’t find any parking at all,” Barracks said. “Passing empty driveway after empty driveway.”

21 Day C-470 On- and Off- Ramp Closure Coming Wednesday

A 21-day closure of the westbound C-470 off- and on-ramp at Platte Canyon road will begin on Wednesday, July 24th at 8 p.m. and will continue until Thursday, August 15th at 5:30 a.m.

According to the CDOT website, the extended closure will eliminate the need for “over 100 nightly ramp closures and the need for additional traffic switches and the use of additional temporary asphalt. The benefits of this closure will decrease confusion for the traveling public while increasing safety for motorists and construction crews. When completed, the off- and on-ramps will open to their final configuration.”

Wadsworth Eastbound C-470 On-Ramp Closure Starting On 7/18

Starting at 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 18th and continuing through Wednesday, July 24th at 5:30 a.m., the eastbound on-ramp to C-470 at Wadsworth will be closed. CDOT says they are conducting this full 6-day closure to eliminate the need for 30 nights of full closure.

Englewood Public Works to present plan to fix drainage issues

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. — Replacing old pipes, recreating a natural drainage-way and giving residents money back for flood-proofing their homes are among the findings in a new study addressing Englewood’s drainage system.

That study will be presented to the Englewood City Council during Monday night’s meeting.

Sinkholes and flooded basements in recent years demonstrate a growing problem for the city: Excess rainwater is causing problems for the city’s drainage system.

Roads reopen after sinkhole closes Santa Fe near River Point

SHERIDAN, Colorado — A sinkhole closed several roads near South Santa Fe Drive and West Oxford Avenue during Monday’s evening rush hour.

These were the road closures, according to the Sheridan Police Department:

  • Northbound Santa Fe at Union
  • Eastbound Oxford Avenue at River Point
  • Eastbound and Westbound Oxford between Santa Fe and Windmere

Teen driver killed after crashing into traffic pole

LITTLETON, Colo. — An 18-year-old man died after his vehicle hit six other vehicles and then smashed into a traffic light pole, the Colorado State Patrol said.

The crash happened just after 2 a.m. Monday near the intersection of South Kendall Boulevard and West Ken Caryl Avenue. The driver was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene, CSP said. No one else was hurt.

Both directions of I 70 are open as of last night at 8:15 p.m., following the horrific crash on Thursday evening that killed 4 people and involved 4 semis and 24 cars.
