CHERRY HILLS VILLAGE, Colo. — The Celebration of Life for Colorado State Patrol Trooper William Modén will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Denver First Church, according to the Colorado State Patrol (CSP).

Modén, 37, was on foot and outside his patrol car on Interstate 70 near Deer Trail when he was struck by a Ford F-250 at about 9:40 p.m. Friday, said CSP Colonel Matthew Packard.

Modén was in the area investigating an earlier rollover crash. The driver who hit the trooper has only been identified as a Colorado man. He’s been cooperating with the investigation and is not believed to have been impaired at the time, according to Packard.
